The Narrows
For the second time this week, we went to the Narrows, but this experience was different than the last, we hiked, swam, wrote a field journal, saw the Nature Center, and tested the water in the Little Miami River. We finished the day with yoga/meditation.

The purpose of our journal was to record our day and describe the nature around us in an objective way. I chose to sketch some leaves, as well as the Barn Owl from the nature center. I chose to sketch the leaves, because I wanted to be able to objectively look as something very common and see if I could find anything new about it. I described the leaves using four of the five sentences. They were a dark green with light green veins and a brownish green stem. The leaves smelled fresh and new, and felt somewhat like leather, but much more mold-able and alive with frilled edges. When on the trees they created a quite rustling sound with the light breeze and when crumpled created a slight crunching sound.

Activities
While visiting the Nature Center, we got to watch the snakes being fed, the turtles bathing, and learn random facts about wildlife and plants and identifying them. We tested the Little Miami River's water for it's temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, saturation, and pH. We took the time to pick something in nature and then describe it with the four senses. We also sketched this item and an animal that we saw.
